Degree of Difficulty: 5 out of 5 This is the most challenging kit I offer so far. Not only does it have the most complex circuit of all the kits, but it's also the first to have an LED status light and AC adaptor jack. But don't let that scare you...this is still a "beginner's" project. I still stand by my statement that if you only build one pedal in your lifetime it should be the rangemaster, but if you go for a second this should be the one you build. 99.9% of all overdrives out there are based on the TS808 circuit. Most boutique overdrives are straight up clones of the TS808 with a few simple modfications. The Screamer Clone kit comes with everything you need to build a true bypass clone of the TS808 and the extra mod kit will give you everything you need to add some booteek flavor to your overdrive tone. The mod kit comes with an extra capacitor to reduce the midrange hump that the TS-808 is so famous for, an extra diode for more tubelike asymmetrical clipping, and an extra Texas Instruments op amp that many boutique builders claim to make a big improvent in tone over the original JRC4558D(which is also included). |
